It does exist....
I've never tried it myself, but there are people who view dance steps in CAD or drawing programs, so you can see how and where the gentleman and the lady must place their feet exactly. My experience with recording and description of steps and figures:
* If you are trying to decipher what someone else has made , it rarely succeeds, except perhaps for the basic steps and figures that you know (well), (and so it is unnecessary)
* If you record exactly how to do it, then you know it and you really do not need to register. So to learn and adapt moves it's a good idea to write them down on paper or in a software package yourself. I have pages of them on my word processor, and sometimes it helps to get it back, to fish forgotten figures. But just as often, I do not remember what I've noted.
