Belgian dancer Edo Wijnen won a price in Lausanne
The Belgian dancer Edo Wijnen won an award during the final of the prestigious Prix de Lausanne, an international competition for young dancers of all nationalities (15 to 18) who are not yet in a professional dance company.
After six marathon days the 16 -year-old compatriot went home with a scholarship and the price for a contemporary interpretation.
Seven scholarships
In total there are seven scholarships. Each scholarship is good for 16,000 Swiss francs (10,000 euros). The winners can join to follow courses in the country and the school of their choice. In one week 73 candidates (53 girls and 20 boys) competed each other. They came from twenty countries. Thirty percent came from Japan.
Fame
The Prix de Lausanne has since its inception in 1973, gained a great fame. Several future stars started there. (Belga / sam)
