Late 60s wheelchair dancing started as a therapy in hospitals in Britain. From there it fanned out across the continent. In 1971 in England the Weelchair Dance Association was founded.
RolstoeldansenDancing is moving rhythmically to music. This can also be for disabled. There are several clubs where you can dance in wheelchairs. Other disabilities should not prevent to dance. Even deaf people can feel vibrations of the rhythm, or the partner can indicate the rhythm by hand movements, pressing, tapping....
Wheelchair dancing exists for singles, couples, and group and line dance. There are also competitions organized. Also combination dance is an option: wheelchair user dances with standing partner. Here too, every time: practice makes perfect.
